Information
The School Day
We run a breakfast club everyday from 8.am until 8.30am. The club is held in the hall. All children are welcome and the latest time you can bring your child to Breakfast Club is 8.25am.
Children must be taken to breakfast club entrance by an adult and handed over to the Breakfast Supervisor.
Attendance
Children should arrive at school at least five minutes before the start of the school day.
Breakfast Club is available from 8.00am–8.25am for those who need to arrive earlier.
Please note that teachers are not responsible for pupils before 8.45am and the main gate will open at 8.40am for children to enter the playground, where supervision will be provided.
The school carefully monitors attendance, and you may be invited to attend a meeting if your child’s attendance drops below an acceptable level.
For more information, please refer to our Pupil Attendance Policy.

Many parents and carers are often surprised to see how quickly days and hours of learning can be lost through
poor attendance. Even a small number of absences can have a significant impact on a child’s overall attendance
percentage.
Punctuality is equally important. When children arrive late, they miss valuable teaching time and key parts of the
curriculum, which can affect their progress and limit their opportunity to achieve their full potential.
School Times
Morning Session: 8.55am – 12.00pm
Afternoon Session: 12.55pm - 3.00pm

Holidays during Term Time
As per the new attendance policy, all schools within our cluster will NOT be authorising any leave of absence without exceptional circumstances being identified. Any accumulation of 10 or more unauthorised absences within a term will incur a fixed penalty warning.
Absence
All parents are advised to use the ’Study Bugs’ app to inform school of any absence.
School Meals
Meals are cooked and served in the school and since September 2022 have been FREE for all our full time pupils. Should a special diet be required for your child or if certain foods are not to be eaten please notify the Headteacher in writing. We will be happy to accommodate your wishes. There are facilities for children to eat a packed lunch. Please, no glass bottles.
Free Milk
A carton of milk is provided free for you child each day. This is funded by the Welsh Government. If for any reason you do not wish your child to receive milk in school please inform the class teacher.
All pupils are required to bring a healthy snack in to school. This can be fruit or vegetables.
Nut Free School
As a number of children are allergic (several children require epi pens due to severity) to certain products we are a NUT FREE school we have banned nuts, food containing nuts e.g. Nutella and peas. Any nut products in lunch boxes will be removed and sent home.
Medicines and inhalers in school
Our professional bodies and unions do not recommend administration of prescribed medication by school staff. Current advice from County is that only when medicines are prescribed four times a day will we administer them. Antihistamines will NOT be administered by school staff, nor will Calpol or similar pain relief medicines. Children who require asthma inhalers must take the inhaler to the office for safe keeping. They must be able to administer the inhaler themselves. This administration will be supervised and recorded by a member of staff.
